first_img05Feb Rep. Lauwers key player in House Republican ‘Action Plan’ Categories: Lauwers News State Rep. Dan Lauwers today participated in a Capitol news conference announcing key initiatives and priorities that have been outlined for the current legislative session by House Republicans. The central focus of the plan is continued job growth, opening up new opportunities for young people and creating a better government for Michigan families.Lauwers played an integral role in shaping the House Republican ‘Action Plan’ and the future of this legislative term when he was named chair of the Policy Development Workgroup by House Speaker Kevin Cotter back in November.“I’m proud of the work we did, and I’m proud of the caucus for everything they did to gather ideas from their communities and to come up with long-term solutions,” said Lauwers, R-Brockway Township. “We aren’t just here to put together a list of good ideas; we’re here to make real changes.”Over the last few months, Lauwers and his team consolidated nearly 400 policy ideas to about 100, from which the full House Republican caucus chose the top 78 policy priorities to include in the plan.“Developing a written plan gives residents a clear picture of what is ahead for this term and holds us accountable to the people we represent,” Lauwers said. “This document won’t come close to touching everything we will do in the next two years, but it shows the shared focus we all have as a caucus. I look forward to working hard alongside them as we accomplish these goals over the next two years.”The entire plan is available to view at
