An interesting and helpful man named Peter came to their aid and lent Tom his striking cap, and they want to make contact with him once more to thank him.The couple’s daughter posted a Facebook status yesterday telling the story of Peter and her parents, in the hope that Donegal locals would see it and identify Peter, described as a ‘flamboyantly dressed fella’. Eilidh McDonald posted this message, along with the photo (above): “Please help me find the lovely man who gave the hat off his head to my Dad (right of this pic). My parents were in Letterkenny for my Dad’s brother’s surprise 70th birthday party. They had travelled all the way from Falkirk in central Scotland, and were half an hour from their destination when my Dad realised he had forgotten his kilt. And so had nothing to wear to the party. They were unsuccessfully searching the local area for a formal wear hire shop, when they got talking to a flamboyantly dressed fella called Peter from Donegal Town in a cafe. He had on this bunnet. It’s from Hanna Hats. They got talking for a while about Scotland and Ireland and whatnot, and Peter even recited ‘My Love Is Like a Red Red Rose’ word perfect. When they got up to leave, Peter gave my Dad his hat to wear to the party. And my Dad promised he would. We’d love it if this post could get back to Peter so he can see that my Dad kept his promise! It caused quite a stir at the party. 🙂 My parents were full of praise for the friendliness and helpfulness of all the folk they met in Donegal, so if you live there and know Peter – could you tag him or someone he knows? Come on Facebook! You can do it!”Who could Peter be?
